So what's the deal with communication these days? The connections that the laptop, internet, and cell phone have all created have ultimately led to the most impressive disconnect. 1/5 of couples meet online and I'm sure this number will only grow. Personal relationships become difficult when we know every last detail of our friends and families lives before they tell us. What did people do before computers? It's wild to think about and to be honest I don't think I wanna go there.
Anyways
Here's what I see in our dismal future. We meet online, but we stay online. No need for physical presence (at least for the most part) with holograms that can experience the senses. This sounds unreasonable to you? Let's see if you feel the same in 10 years. Scary stuff.

I'm really all about the local love and my obsession with t-shirts shines through with this one. I believe in representing where you come from and while it's hard to accurately represent an entire city in one image, I think these shirts do a particularly good job.

Near and dear to my heart is Upper Playground. With origins in wonderful bay area, it's undeniable that the left coast is the best coast.
Who doesn't love a good NYC knockoff right? Freegum's has this an a handful of other great tee's. The best part? It's reversible.

Los Angeles has a lot to offer don't get me wrong, but I think this shows that clean air and relaxed driving are NOT in full supply. Howard's House of Fine Art paints the picture in this one.

Talk about an innovative promo tool. What a creative and memorable way to promote the product. I'm sure the students at this school will never go near a Pepsi machine after this. Where's my happiness machine?!

Even though these remind me of a touristy/gift shop item, the detail that these leaf carvings exude is amazing. These are manually carved without machines or painting of any kind and custom orders can be made if you want your dog's portrait on a leaf. No, really.

These make my mouth water. The newly released Supra Spring 2010 Skytop is available in lots of different colors but the purple takes the cake. Too bad these would just be caked in mud if ever worn in Eugene.

My eyeballs feel like they are going to fall out. I've been looking at one computer screen or another for like 7 hours today and I think it's too much for me to handle. Throughout all of my classes today I couldn't see anything being projected on the board/wall/whatever and it was driving me crazy. Maybe time for some new glasses. That being said I saw this image and thought of my current state of mind: fuzz. Check out more of Victor Zhang's photos on his photoblog. this is not a plug

As you might be aware I am currently interning for O'Bon , this really great eco-friendly school and office supply company. The products are SO fun and original and even though this might seem like a promo piece, I genuinely believe in what the company is doing. I am working on a few new projects and was sharpening some of the O'bon pencils earlier today and was so excited to see the images below.
The pencils are made out of 100% newspaper. This means no trees or wood are cut down to make these. It also means that sharpening your pencil might just be the highlight of your day.

Finally!

Here is it. My final submission for my self portrait. I could play in photoshop and illustrator for hours but there comes a point in time where I just have to stop focus on one image. After a few tweaks from the previous versions this is what I came up with.
I spare the explanation of the image in hopes that it's somewhat self explanatory. Wish me luck!

It's just a matter of time

I should be out right now :/ Instead I'm working on my 10,000th self portrait (well not really but it feels like it) for this application . I'm so tired of ME; I want a new subject but I have to crank out the perfect one. Here's the one I like the most but I'm sure I will come up with tons more before I make one I feel great about.

I/O Brush

Okay let's go. Even though this was developed 5 years ago, it's well worth the post. The MIT Media Lab developed this interactive brush that picks up images and movements and 'paints' them on a new surface. The translation between body and machine is incredible. While not the most practical thing, it might be the most entertaining thing I've seen all day.

When asked what the next HCI (Human Computer Interaction) will be, this was one of the ideas discussed in class.

Whatever you do, make sure you watch the video.

Want to see the future?

Well here it is. I'm not sure how practical or expensive Light Blue Optic's Light Touch really is, but I'm sure before we know it, products like this will be standard. We've seen the physical touchscreen, but the virtual one is an exciting new idea. The portability is appealing and just goes to show how far the tech world has come in such a short period of time.
The Holographic Laser Projection projects the digital image into a 10.1 inch virtual one. The sensors in the gadget detect motion and act interactively. While it's a super exclusive product now, hopefully public distribution will happen soon.

The Dreyfuss (Millar/Jay) Affair

I think it's time to share a little about my zany family. After many years i've learned to sweep the embarrassment under the rug and accept the sometimes ridiculous antics of my fam. Here goes the blackmail.

Fargo is the head of the household and does his part to keep the family close. He's 12 years old but you would never guess it.

Okay Let's Go 2010

I guess I should start by saying happy new year! 2009 was great but I am ready to take on the challenges of a new year. I hope to push myself harder and further than I ever have before. You can find me searching for inspiration and creativity in every crack and corner. Expect big things :) In my current insomniac state, it's no surprise that instead of sleeping I am searching for new images and ideas. In doing so, I've stumbled across some that have made an impression on me. Planet Tozer creates this images sans filter or manipulation which is pretty incredible.

The world suddenly seems so small when I realized I can't tell the difference between our earth, and a soapy bubble. The relativity is all around and it only takes some imagination to see it. As always, enjoy.
